Project Employee, Digital and Social Content Publishing

While Basketball Operations runs the league’s on-court activities, other departments manage relationships with television and digital media partners, develop marketing partnerships with some of the world’s most recognizable companies, oversee the licensing of NBA merchandise, and handle a wide range of responsibilities that drive the NBA’s success.

 

Position Summary:
This position is part of the NBA Emerging Media group which focuses on identifying, creating, distributing and publishing content for the NBA's digital platforms and its many domestic and international partners. As the demand for content on these platforms continues to grow, this is your opportunity to grow with us in a fast-paced, innovative and collaborative environment. This is a project employee position based out of the Secaucus, New Jersey, office with an anticipated assignment length of 10 months.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Identifying content elements and storylines from NBA live games and tentpole events throughout the season to fuel various aspects of NBA.com, the NBA App, and NBA League Pass
  • Creating targeted content for NBA social and digital platforms including video, photo and graphics editing, and written content
  • Curating and publishing video, photo, statistical, and editorial content for NBA.com and the NBA App, including Rapid Replay, Stories and in-game trivia & polling
  • Supporting international NBA partners by gathering content for distribution that will provide a more engaging localized experience for the fan in their respective market
  • Optimizing the direct-to-consumer experience through content, programming and messaging opportunities
  • Participating in content planning for all league's social and digital platforms, including presenting daily content executions to a broader NBA audience, when called upon
  • Organizing content development requests with the Product and Web Development teams for improved front-end display and back-end CMS efficiency
  • Developing, tracking and organizing graphic requests to designers

 

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Passionate about the NBA, including current and historical players, coaches, and teams. Knowledge of basketball analytics and the rules of the game is a plus
  • Strong writing, including the ability to execute editorial judgment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, when needed
  • Proven record for having exhibited creativity around content development
  • Understanding of the digital landscape, including, but not limited to, responsive websites, mobile apps, messaging platforms, and analytics
  • Strong communication skills. We work closely with a number of internal stakeholders and external partners. An understanding and ability to communicate effectively is key to those relationships
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, GIPHY and Tik Tok
  • Background in digital, social, photos and graphics production/editing or video content production, is nice to have. Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects is a plus
  • Experience with Content Management Systems publishing
  • Ability and willingness to work on deadline and handle multiple tasks at once with a detail-oriented approach
  • Knowledge of the WNBA, NBA G League, and Basketball Africa League is a plus
  • Must be a self-starter who can work both independently and as part of a team
  • Able to work nights and weekends

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field preferred
