Product Manager - Growth

Position Summary:

 

Digital Media’s mission is to bring the world courtside by providing the NBA experience for everyone, everywhere. The department creates and manages digital products (like mobile applications and virtual reality products) that extend the league’s global reach. The NBA is the most popular sports league on social media, and the Digital Media team manages all of the league’s social platforms. Globally the Digital Media team also delivers live games and content through NBA League Pass directly to fans on the web, mobile, and connected devices, and develops strategies for distributing content with our global regional offices and partners.  The department also works with NBA Digital (a joint venture between the NBA and Turner Sports) to manage and present best-in-class websites and digital products for the NBA, WNBA, NBA G League, and all teams across the three leagues.

 

 

 

The Digital Media Product and Emerging Technology team’s mission is to deliver world-class experiences that fans love and to grow the number of fans who use our products every day.  We develop a product strategy that advocates for the fan and the NBA’s business and is based on a deep understanding of consumer insights, data, and research.

 

You will help grow the NBA’s audience across its portfolio of digital products on the web (mobile/desktop) and app. In this role, you will be at the intersection of user experience, technology, and business to define the strategy to increase audience and keep fans coming back. You will also leverage product performance data, consumer insights, and research to develop and experiment with innovative product enhancements that contribute to top-and middle-of-funnel growth. Working within the larger Product team, you will collaborate closely with internal and external design, development, quality assurance, and third-party technology and partner teams to contribute to our product roadmap.

 

Major Responsibility:

 

  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of our products, business objectives, and audience

  • Collaborate with internal and external product, design, development, and technology teams

  • Partner with third-party tech companies to promote NBA vision, best practices, and integrations

  • Devise new innovative approaches within our products to help organically discover and retain fans

  • Identify, document, prioritize and deliver mobile, web, and connected device product requirements for features and functionality among larger roadmaps

  • Research and champion emerging technology tools that we can use to accelerate our growth

  • Conceive clear, actionable, and testable hypotheses for quantitative and qualitative test validation

  • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics and use this data to identify high-impact opportunities to improve KPIs across all platforms

  • Maintain a strong sense of design and ability to wire/prototype concepts

  • Learn about and advocate for the user, gathering and sharing insights and best practices regularly

  • Manage relationships with internal and external development, design, testing, and operations partners to implement product updates with a consistent level of quality

  • Identify and cultivate relationships between new technology companies, agencies, or partners that can improve all aspects of our international digital products

  • Communicate regularly with senior executives internally and externally

 

 

Job Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in growth product management or similar roles

  • Demonstrated ability to drive high performing, cross-functional teams comprised of both internal and external product, partner, design, development, and QA resources

  • Experience with agile product development methodology and agile software tools

  • Strong technical background with an understanding of client/server relationships and how to integrate APIs, SDKs, and multiple data sources to create products; experience building websites or apps preferred

  • Deep understanding of the ASO and SEO space

  • Experience working with product growth technology tools

  • Experience working with analytics and measurement software tools coupled with strong data analysis skills

  • Experience working with premium and/or subscription products direct-to-consumer preferred

  • Technology-savvy with a deep understanding of evolving media and content landscape and trends

  • Strong presentation and written communication skills and experience leading product discussions with senior management

  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of setting and delivering on expectations and commitments

  • Knowledge of basketball and a passion for the NBA and sports 

Education

CS/Engineering or equivalent degree preferred; BA/BS required
