While Basketball Operations runs the league’s on-court activities, other departments manage relationships with television and digital media partners, develop marketing partnerships with some of the world’s most recognizable companies, oversee the licensing of NBA merchandise, and handle a wide range of responsibilities that drive the NBA’s success.


Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the position is to act as the principal product growth lead for key digital initiatives across NBA, WNBA, and G-League, for web, application, and premium products (e.g. International League Pass). The Product Manager, SEO will define organic user and subscriber acquisition strategies and work on defining our consumer-facing web and app store presences, working closely with Marketing and Direct-to-Consumer partners to implement initiatives that are on brand and focused on revenue/subscriber growth. The Product Manager, SEO will work within the broader Product team and have the ability to interact with a diverse set of technical and non-technical stakeholders including senior management in regional offices.


Major Responsibility:

  • Own SEO products end-to-end, driving product discussions (e.g., vision, goals, tenets, roadmap, narratives, status) with executive representatives and creating product materials and training where necessary
  • Audit and analyze NBA SEO performance, identify issues, determine root-causes, and experiment with solutions to improve performance at scale
  • Develop and execute the SEO roadmap by working closely with Engineers, Product Designers and Analysts to drive organic growth & revenue
  • Support defining and building the right set of internal SEO tools that support scale and growth of the SEO program
  • Build SEO reporting dashboards to monitor and effectively communicate performance of SEO initiatives to business partners and identify high-impact opportunities to improve KPIs
  • Run and measure success of experiments, implementing successful tactics at scale
  • Measure and project the impact of features, content, and events and optimize their performance through split-testing and rapid, data-driven iteration Work with international teams to grow SEO in various countries, with local language support as needed
  • Manage and perform day-to-day product and project management activities including the definition of product specifications, requirements, user stories, and high level technical and user experience flows
  • Manage relationships with editor and writing team members to execute SEO content strategy Stay up to date with SEO trends and methodologies
  • Manage relationships with Search partners and be an expert in search tools (e.g., AMP) and strategize on the NBA’s position


Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • 4+ years of SEO experience with large-scale content or e-commerce websites
  • Experience with SEO tools and web analytics applications Comfortable reading HTML/CSS and inspecting web pages
  • A proven track record of growing rankings, traffic, and/or revenue through SEO tactics and experimentation
  • Experience with analytics and measurement software tools coupled with strong data analysis skills
  • Experience working with premium and/or subscription products direct-to-consumer preferred Technology-savvy with deep understanding of evolving media and content landscape and trends
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills and experience leading product discussions with senior management
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of setting and delivering on expectations and commitments Knowledge of basketball and a passion for the NBA and sports
