Position Summary:

The Digital Media team brings the world courtside by providing the NBA experience for everyone, everywhere! We build digital products that extend the league’s global reach, from mobile applications to virtual reality experiences. Globally, we work with our regional offices to develop strategies for distribution, and we also deliver live games and outstanding content directly to fans through our product NBA League Pass.

 

The Digital Media Product and Emerging Technology team’s mission is to deliver outstanding experiences that fans love and to grow the number of fans who use our products every day. We develop a product strategy that advocates for the fan and the NBA’s business and is based on a deep understanding of consumer insights, data, and research.

 

The NBA's Product Growth team's mission is to support a best-in-class digital product and content experience with an outstanding growth strategy. You will be responsible for broadening the openness of what is already one of the world's most transparent brands, and ensuring the NBA digital experiences are readily accessible and optimize for wherever and however our fans are looking for us.

 

As the Growth Product Manager, you will focus on driving organic consumer growth across the NBA's portfolio of digital products on the web (mobile/desktop) and app. This means being at the intersection of user experience, technology, and business to help define the product strategies that will increase the NBA's audience through web and app search, partner relationship management, outstanding content platforms and more.

 

You will also use product performance data, consumer insights, and research to develop and experiment with innovative product improvements that supply top-and middle-of-funnel growth. Working within the larger Digital Product team, you will collaborate closely with internal and external design, development, quality assurance, and third-party technology and partner teams to collaborate on the overall product roadmap.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of our products, business goals, and audience
  • Devise new innovative ways within our products to help fans organically discover and drive retention
  • Build and execute SEO and ASO strategic plans, in partnership with the broader Product team, to achieve ongoing growth goals
  • Handle third-party agencies who specialize in growth to execute and analyze growth strategy
  • Maintain relationships with key NBA platform partners, and work collaboratively to improve the NBA's transparency on those platforms
  • Identify, document, prioritize and deliver mobile, web and connected device product requirements for features and functionality among larger roadmaps
  • Research and champion emerging technology tools that we can use to accelerate our growth
  • Conceive clear, impactful and testable hypotheses for quantitative and qualitative test validation
  • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics and use this data to identify high-impact opportunities to improve critical metrics across all platforms
  • Set goals and evaluate potential opportunities, to help partners develop targets and evaluate trade-offs
  • Maintain a strong sense of design and ability to wire/prototype concepts
  • Learn about and advocate for the user, gathering and sharing insights and standard methodologies regularly
  • Communicate regularly with senior executives internally and externally

 

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • 5+ years experience in a growth product management or similar roles
  • Demonstrated ability to drive robust, cross-functional teams comprised of both internal and third-party product, partner, design, development and QA resources
  • Deep understanding of the ASO and SEO space
  • Experience with agile product development methodology and agile software tools
  • Strong technical background with an understanding of client/server relationships and how to integrate APIs, SDKs and multiple data sources to build products; experience building websites or apps preferred
  • Experience working with product growth technology tools
  • Experience working with analytics and measurement software tools coupled with strong data analysis skills
  • Experience working with premium and/or subscription products direct-to-consumer preferred
  • Technology-savvy with a comprehensive understanding of evolving media and content landscape and trends
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills and experience leading product discussions with senior management
  • Ability to represent and influence decisions with data-centric support
  • Strong project management skills with a consistent record of setting and delivering on expectations and commitments
  • Knowledge of basketball and a passion for the NBA and sports

 

Education:

  • BA/BS required
