Position Summary 
The Next Gen Messaging Content Manager will bring NBA App push and in-app messaging into a new era, dedicated to taking the NBA’s content, personalities and brand values and delivering them to the world in a real-time, personalized and joyful way. Working with groups around the league and new technology tools, you’ll drive our day-to-day messaging strategy, and how the NBA App’s ‘voice’ comes to life. Using constant testing, data and love for this game (and its stories), you’ll help make the NBA’s push and in-app messaging iconic, unmistakable and mandatory for hoops fans.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily planning and execution of NBA App push and in-app notification strategy, on both a global and personalized/localized level.
  • Develop a sharp, engaging, defined and consistent voice for NBA App push and in-app messages, based on NBA brand values and constant A/B performance testing.
  • Working with Content Optimization & Personalization team, develop a 24/7 messaging strategy and best practices for engaging fans around the world via messaging.
  • Develop new, breakthrough push notification formats – designed to stand out from the crowd and deliver joy to NBA fans around the world.
  • Work hand-in-hand with Content, Product and Product Marketing teams on developing programming strategies around key cohorts.
  • Work with stakeholders around the league, including DTC, Product, Marketing, Partnerships and more to best use messaging to drive league goals. 
  • Work with DTC content team and stakeholders on developing an extraordinary user-onboarding experience
  • Provide best practices to affiliate leagues
  • Work with international teams on creating the foundations best-in-class international (localized, in-language) messaging operation.
  • Work with partners to bring activations to life via messaging.
  • Become an expert in the world of mobile messaging.

 

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Ability to thrive in a real-time news environment, including decision-making, proofreading, critical reading / thinking and execution.
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills, with ability to take initiative in a challenging, fast-paced environment of multiple priorities and building relationships.
  • Strong writing & spoken communication skills, as well as ability to execute editorial judgment 
  • Ability and willingness to work on deadline and handle multiple tasks at once with a precise and detail-oriented approach
  • Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team 
  • This position will require some travel, as well as night & weekend work 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a global, matrixed organization
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word applications
  • Content planning, especially as it pertains to using content & messaging to drive KPIs
  • Basic understanding of digital analytics
  • Excellent communication skills
  • World-class knowledge of the NBA, its players, teams, coaches and all relevant information
  • Ability to problem-solve by thinking creatively 
  • Ability to collaborate constantly, take in a multitude of viewpoints and synthesize them into a larger strategy
  • Familiarity with messaging tools, like Braze, Urban Airship
  • Familiarity with Airtable and Google Suite
  • Knowledgeable and curious about the social, digital, linear and direct-to-consumer landscape 

 

Experience Needed

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a social/content/digital role on behalf of a larger brand
  • Displayed ability to thrive in a fast-paced, news environment
  • Content planning background – you’ve pieced together multiple pieces of content into a chorus, where they all build on each other to tell a greater story
  • ‘Point Guard’ abilities – you’ve worked with a multitude of people and shown yourself to be a leader
  • You’ve developed better, faster, cleaner operations and systems in the places you’ve been
  • You’ve uplifted the people around you in demonstrable ways 

 

Educational Background Required 

  • Bachelor’s degree or production qualification required; preferably in communications, content production or digital marketing or related discipline 

 

Salary Range: [[$105,000.000 - $120,000.000]]
