Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the League Accounting Senior Manager, the Manager will be responsible for the analytical review, reconciliation, and maintenance of the general ledger accounts of the G League, NBA Foundation, and the Social Justice Coalition. This role is responsible for managing the month-end close and audit reports for Affiliate Leagues.
Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the month end close process for the G League, NBA Foundation, and Social Justice Coalition including performance of accurate and timely account reconciliations
- Responsible for the review of the League Accounting P&Ls
- Assist in completion of audit work papers to finalize interim and annual financial audit of NBA Joint Venture, NBA Foundation, and National Basketball Social Justice Coalition, and the preparation of year-end audit reports
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects from business partners to support decision making as needed
- Research significant and/or unusual activity, and propose correcting journal entries to management ensuring compliance with GAAP and NBA regulations
- Responsible for the preparation of accurate legal team transaction billings to the 30 NBA teams
- Proactively identify and recommend solutions to legal leadership regarding confidential team matters.
Required Education/Professional Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Necessary credits to be eligible to sit for Uniform CPA Exam required
- Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in public or private accounting functions
- Previous Big 4 experience preferred
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
- Ability to prepare, review, and analyze financial statements
- Industry specific accounting knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Including Not-for-profit accounting related to NBA Foundation & Social Justice Coalition
- Remaining current with FASB and relevant accounting pronouncements
- Experience in financial auditing within public accounting
- High proficiency using accounting software (Blackline) and ERP systems (SAP)
- Flexible to work extended hours during peak seasons
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for reporting and presenting financial information
Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000
