Position Summary:

You will have ability to ideate and design outstanding user experiences for the NBA’s global apps, websites and premium subscription services. As a Designer, you will ensure that every digital touch point provides a seamless, intuitive experience that is consistent with the NBA brand. You must thrive in a fast-paced work environment and exhibit strong problem-solving skills, strong work ethic with an aptitude for teamwork and communication. Ideal candidate will have the ability to work with in-house and external agencies with ability to speak to design and development partners. Candidate will excel at blending high analytical acumen, beautiful creative ideas and deep understanding of user-centered design methodologies.


We bring the world courtside by providing the NBA experience for everyone, everywhere! We build and manage digital products that extend the league’s global reach, from mobile applications to virtual reality experiences. The NBA is the most popular sports league on social media, and the Digital Media team handles all of the league’s social platforms. Globally the Digital Media team also delivers live games and outstanding content through NBA League Pass directly to fans on web, mobile and connected devices, and develops strategies for distributing content with our global regional offices and partners.

Major Responsibilities:

This role requires hands-on design.  As a designer you will contribute to all facets of the product pipeline from wireframing to prototyping and visuals to pitch new features as well as coordinate design initiatives on mobile, connected platforms and the NBA subscription business NBA LEAGUE PASS. Contribute design input to agencies and/or designers. Collaborate with developers, product owners, marketing, and content managers to define product experience and champion the user. Enthusiastically participate in product reviews and leading feedback discussions. You should be a vibrant and engaging communicator that can present concepts and ideas to all levels of the company.


As a designer, you are able to balance business requirements, marketing and analytics with design aesthetic while keeping the user needs in mind. Drive and document design standards and patterns across products with a strong understanding of responsive design mobile interfaces and UX design. Act as “go to” with in-depth knowledge of user interface best practices and standards. In this roll, you will collaborate with designers and UX gurus at major platforms on continual improvement and innovation for NBA products.


Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • At least 5 years of experience designing for any or all of the following: highly trafficked content-driven websites and/or native apps, subscription services with a focus on conversion or large scale video-centric experiences across multiple devices
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and an ability to prioritize and coordinate to meet tasks and deadlines
  • Knowledge of interaction architecture practices in UX and the ability to take wireframes through to well executed visual designs with supporting annotations
  • Demonstrable understanding of the publishing, tech, and social media landscape
  • Knowledge about trends and innovations in experience design, technology, development, visual design, art, communications design and product design
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative suite, Sketch, Zeplin, or equivalent technologies
  • Experience sketching, concept creation and wireframing, producing sitemaps and user flows, with tap able/clickable prototypes
  • Experience with product design and development timelines
  • Knowledge all various platforms human interface guidelines: iOS, Android, and connected platforms
  • Agency experience is also a plus



  • BA/BS or BFA in relevant field
  • Relevant certifications in visual design, project management and human device interaction is a plus
