Whether it be for the NBA, WNBA, G League or 2K League millions of people visit sites, engage with mobile apps, and view our content across multiple platforms. We are looking for an experienced Director, Content Protection & Anti-Piracy who will focus on keeping NBA digital content protected as we deliver video to consumers (DTC) and other business partners (B2B). This will include focus on digital fingerprinting and watermarking, automation security reporting and remediation, and analysis of piracy concerns for content. The ideal candidate for this role will have strong experience with understanding the many aspects cloud workflows, encryption protocols, video delivery pipelines, software providers and copyright/fingerprinting/watermarking services.

 

Major Responsibility:

 

  • Provide leadership to the video platform team by managing content security workflows and reporting
  • Review and stay current on media technology platforms that store and stream content, offering subject matter expertise on the security viability of those solutions
  • Work with internal teams and external vendors to remediate critical vulnerabilities and challenge inaccurate information with evidence; this includes coordinating with internal security teams to develop compliance and remediation plan, scheduling follow up discussions
  • Develop multiyear plan for constant security improvements against new attack vectors
  • Create content protection reports and drive analysis for content security initiatives
  • Create executive level reporting and presentations
  • Communicate risk analysis effectively to internal business units, distilling complex sets of security data into succinct plans, actions and next steps
  • Respond to internal or external security incidents and lead fast-paced investigations while navigating cross-team communication and providing executive summary; participate in prosecution activities as required

 

Required Skills/Knowledge:

 

  • Experience working with 3rd party external vendors in evaluation of their security architecture against an industry standard set of best practices
  • Knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC
  • Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks
  • Demonstrated strong and effective communicator, both verbally and written, with ability to interface with various departments of the company, as well as outside vendors and contractors
  • Serve as subject matter expert for Content Protection Technology
  • Experience with cloud orchestration systems
  • Strong knowledge of digital fingerprinting and content protection systems, either proprietary or from social content platforms (ie Facebook Rights Manager, YouTube Content ID, etc)
  • Display an aptitude for taking initiative to go above and beyond
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision, oftentimes off hours during live game windows
  • Ready and willing to both learn from and educate other members of our team
  • Detail oriented with a desire for seeing projects through to completion
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
  • 5+ years of experience working within content security role or related position

 

Preferred Experience:

 

  • Strong knowledge of video delivery over industry leading CDNs (Akamai, Cloudfront, Level3, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of encoding protocols (AAC, H.264, H.265) and streaming protocols (RTMP, HDS, HLS, DASH) and transport technologies (webRTC, SRT, Zixi)
  • Strong knowledge of encryption technologies and best practices (DRM, AES, Widevine/Playready)
  • Strong knowledge of content protection vendors (ie. Veramatrix, Synacor, friendMTS, Content Armor)
  • 5+ years of video streaming development experience (or equivalent)

 

Education:

 

  • BS in computer science, cyber security or a related technical discipline.
