Position Summary:

This position is part of the NBA Social & Digital Content team which focuses on creating, distributing and publishing content to the NBA's portfolio of social and digital product offerings. Candidate will be a member of the digital content team and will manage content personalization for our international fans for both free and premium experiences on and the NBA app. The ideal candidate is an expert on personalization and truly understands the complexities in surfacing content to our fans all over the world. You will be responsible for delivering what fans want, when they want it.


This is an exciting position that will be at the forefront of shaping how to engage fans across the NBA's new digital products. Whether it's surfacing the best content from teams, players, or various categories, this position will have a hand in shaping everything from content creation to delivery to presentation. The goal is to help fans discover new content while engaging with all aspects of NBA fandom including merchandise, ticketing, fantasy and gaming. The ideal candidate is an expert on content personalization and has a passion for growing the international audience for the NBA App and You have worked with a global brand and have an understanding on how to deliver the best experience for fans that get to watch the best of the NBA live or on-demand. This position will work directly with NBA regional offices around the globe to source, create and surface unique content initiatives for local fans.


You must thrive in a fast-paced work environment, be proactive, exhibit strong awareness of content monetization trends, sound work ethic with an aptitude for team collaboration and communication. The ideal candidate has their finger on the pulse of the NBA and spends their free time immersing themselves in podcasts, message boards or consuming short and long form content about the NBA.


Major Responsibility:

  • Responsible for the personalized experience for all non-US users of NBA digital products
  • Coordinates localization and development to ensure needs of priority growth markets are met with sufficient, high-quality content
  • Understands localization from the perspective of language significance, regional/country significance, and event significance
  • Works with NBA regional content producers on content calendar and promotional efforts around localized content opportunities
  • Develops Messaging content plan that is focused on non-US NBA App users, using analytics to inform overall approach
  • Works with DTC Marketing team on opportunities to promote subscription-based content from an event- and channel-based perspective
  • Manages inbound content, including tagging and preparation for personalization for NBA App, fans
  • Works directly with Content Distribution team to align on taxonomy and tagging terms for all personalized content published to NBA App,
  • Understands all sources for available content from in-house to user-generated to teams to 3rd parties and how we can best surface this content within the NBA product suite
  • Works with the team to develop strategy for tagging in-language & localized content in real-time
  • Works with Personalization Lead on surfacing most relevant content for fans who want a more personalized experience from the NBA App
  • Able to collaborate on the enhancement of overall front-end user experience across all NBA products with existing or future content
  • Review and recommend home-grown feature implementations, as well as 3rd party integrations that will improve the content programming & publishing experience
  • Works across departments, including Marketing, New Business, and Social Responsibility, to understand and recommend optimal ways to deliver their localized content needs via official NBA digital products
  • Communicate content trends and industry shifts, including implications and recommendations, to internal and external partners
  • Champion initiatives to experiment and create differentiated content
  • Analyze content performance results and summarize key findings
  • Evaluate operational workflow for efficiency and scalability; identify challenges and provide innovative solutions


Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • 5+ years prior experience working on an international digital product with an understanding of how to localize content & messaging
  • Prior experience working on digital products, including mobile apps, websites & connected devices
  • Prior experience in content creation, development, publishing and distribution
  • Must have knowledge of the game of basketball - past and present
  • Knowledge of sports media landscape is a plus
  • Fluency in languages other than English is preferre
  • Must understand how basketball terminology should be conveyed in local regions
  • Previous experience working within content management systems
  • WordPress experience is preferred
  • Expertise with content taxonomy, tagging, categorization from previous digital work
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation building and delivery skills (including to senior management or external business partners)
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Able to learn and take direction
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule as this position may include working days, nights, weekends and holidays based on the NBA calendar
  • Must be a team player who can work collaboratively



  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Digital Media or related field preferred
