Position Summary:


This role will serve as the primary point of contact for the NBA G League's Professional Path Team and will oversee all publicity efforts for the team. Responsibilities include serving the media and managing the public standing of the team while also producing game notes, a media guide and writing and distributing pertinent press releases. This role will work collaboratively with NBA Communications staff in New York City and Professional Path Team front office staff in the team's market.


Major Responsibility:


  • Serve as the primary liaison between local, national and in-house media and all Professional Path Team players, coaches and team staff.
  • Direct the day-to-day strategy and execution of Professional Path Team communications including writing and distributing press releases and game recaps and coordinating media availabilities at practices and games.
  • Facilitate the communications strategy and public perception of the Professional Path Team through targeted pitching.
  • Oversee game operations including managing the stats crew and pre- and post-game media availabilities.
  • Produce materials in the interest of facilitating media coverage of the Professional Path Team including daily game notes and an annual team media guide.
  • Write messaging and talking points for players and coaches as needed.
  • Cultivate and nurture media relationships with local and national media to position the Professional Path Team as a viable alternative for NBA Draft preparedness.
  • Oversee all media and NBA scout credentialing and operations for practices and games.
  • Other duties as assigned-


Required Skills/Knowledge:


  • Minimum of 3 years public relations experience, preferably in a team setting.
  • Must be able to work long hours, weekends, holidays and travel with the team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate and interface with players, coaches and team administration.
  • Must show initiative and demonstrate sound decision making.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with a strong preference for a proficiency in Adobe InDesign or related desktop publishing program.




Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field required
