Position Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable individual with expertise in multimedia infrastructure and multimedia delivery strategies. This role will be part of our Systems Engineering & Support group. The person must also have experience in media systems, including video, audio, IP, non-linear record/playback devices, and control systems workflow.
Major Responsibilities:
- Engineer end-to-end multimedia infrastructure and delivery for consumption in web and native apps
- Make iterative improvements to deliver reliable and flexible streaming content
- Develop and own multimedia delivery strategies and methodology
- Deployment and daily management of live encoding workflows
- Understand and create video workflow requirements regarding data & latency
- Develop automation tools for scaling the delivery of video content to partners
- Respond to and work with technical resources to isolate and resolve system issues
- Create procedural documentation.
- Mentor and train team members.
- Ability to work all shifts associated with 24x7x365 production environments.
- Provide after-hours and weekend support for production systems and as required.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Background in media industry.
- Strong knowledge of media encoding server technologies and codecs (e.g. FFMPEG)
- Strong knowledge of Amazon or Azure MediaServices inclusive of Elemental MediaLive, MediaConnect, MediaTailor, and MediaPackage or Azure Media Service workflow
- Strong knowledge of video delivery over industry-leading CDNs (Akamai, Cloudfront, Level3, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of encoding protocols (AAC, H.264, H.265) and streaming protocols (RTMP, SRT, HLS, DASH)
- Proven track record of getting things done, handling multiple tasks including communication with internal and external teams while consistently delivering on schedule.
- Knowledge of IP networking and multicasting, including streaming media protocols (RTP, RTSP, UDP).
- Understanding of Linux command line skills
- Python scripting or general scripting skills are a plus.
Experience Needed:
- 3+ years of broadcast media or IT experience.
- 3+ years of IP-based video streaming development experience (or equivalent).
- 3+ years of experience working in the field of web and mobile-web development.
Educational Background Required:
- College degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Significant field experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000
