Position Summary:
This position is part of the WNBA Social & Digital Content team which focuses on identifying, creating, distributing, and publishing content to the WNBA's social and digital platforms, specifically META and YouTube platforms. As the demand for content on the WNBA's social platforms continues to grow, this is your opportunity to grow with us in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative environment, reaching social followers around the world. The ideal candidate is an active user of Meta platforms and products (Facebook, Instagram, Oculus, etc.) and is an expert on the on-platform features, the latest trends, and how to create optimized content for these platforms. The ideal candidate is also a YouTube expert who knows all the latest trends, how to create content for the platform and understands the platform analytics. Not only do they understand META and YouTube, but they also understand how to create content about the game of basketball, the WNBA’s players and teams, statistics, and history around the game - while maintaining a brand voice. 
                    
Major Responsibilities:

Assist in Publishing to the WNBA's META accounts, which includes:

  • Owning, developing and communicating Meta publishing schedule -- ensuring coordination and collaboration with other publishers and content teammates
  • Managing Meta platform publishing during live game windows -- balancing quick and immediate publishing, with commitment to both accuracy and creative and engaging copy that drives storytelling
  • Work with content and marketing counterparts as well as league stakeholders to plan and optimize the content on platforms, including the WNBA Social Content Planning and Programming team, the Digital Strategy and Analytics team, the Video Content Creation team, the Content Design team, and the Partner Integration team
  • Management and delivery of all daily, weekly and monthly META requirements are met for internal and external partners    
  • Working with creative team to write proper copy for each published piece of content that reflects the WNBA tone of voice
  • Consistent community management to make sure META platforms are engaging with and sharing content from all players, teams and brand partners

        
Assist Publishing WNBA’s YouTube channel, which includes:

  • Publishing video content by developing copy for titles and descriptions, creating tags, and attaching a video thumbnail for each post
  • Organizing and maintaining the structure of the page by categorizing playlists, updating the header image, and keeping other channel features up to date
  • Working with the Content Creation team to create short and long form video content for the channel and contribute to ideation on a regular basis, working towards channel growth and success
  • Working with the Content Design team to create video thumbnails, as well as using Adobe Photoshop or automated graphics tools to create templated video thumbnails and provide channel expertise on best practices for design elements
  • Content planning for Shorts, short form and long form video franchises and Community posts

 

Required Education/Professional Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience publishing across social and/or digital platforms
  • Experience creating basketball content
  • Bachelor's degree

 

Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of the META platforms - understanding of the landscape, way fans consume WNBA content on the platforms, all features and opportunities on META, platform analytics, and Google and SEO knowledge to improve title and description creation
  • Strong knowledge of the YouTube platform - understanding of the competitive landscape, way fans consume WNBA content on the platform, all features and opportunities on YouTube, platform analytics, and Google and SEO knowledge to improve title and description creation
  • Strong knowledge about the WNBA, and is passionate about the storylines surroundings its players, coaches, teams, statistics, standings, and history of the league, as well as excellent understanding of basketball stats and analytics, the rules of the game and the history of the game
  • Strong understanding of the WNBA’s social voice
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule as this position may include working days, nights, weekends, and holidays based on the WNBA calendar
  • Ability to work on deadline and handle multiple tasks at once with a precise and detail-oriented approach with commitment to accuracy and organization
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment while handling critical tasks in a composed and timely manner
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Great communication skills and ability execute feedback given
  • Must be a team player who can work collaboratively and also take initiative, and have an insatiable curiosity of both on-platform trends and social media landscape to think innovatively and creatively
  • Candidate who ensures conduct and confidentiality are maintained at all times
     

 

Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000
