Position Summary
The Team HR Lead partners with NBA League stakeholders and NBA, WNBA & G-League Team HR Professionals to create community, enhance knowledge sharing and advance shared initiatives that elevate our collective ability to attract, develop and retain the world’s best talent. In this position you will be a community and capability builder, drawing on your own subject matter expertise and the expertise of internal and external resources, to help identify shared opportunities and provide solutions that help elevate our team’s Human Capital capabilities.
Major Responsibilities
- Act as the main HR point of contact between the NBA League Office HR and NBA, WNBA & G League HR teams.
- Create and maintain regular communications channels to the teams, such as newsletters and monthly meetings, to advance shared initiatives and providing mechanism for knowledge sharing.
- Serve as a liaison between Team HR staff and the NBA’s Human Resources team, providing strategic consultation and supporting knowledge sharing across human capital planning, benchmarking, org design, workforce planning, talent management and employee engagement.
- Inventory and aggregate people objectives and strategies across all NBA teams and establish a prioritization model that accounts for demand, gravity, and operational feasibility.
- Analyze external market/industry trends, incorporate into project solution designs and provide regular communications to team and league stakeholder.
- Oversee the Team HR Annual Summit, bringing together the full HR community from league and teams and connecting them with new ideas that advance our shared goals.
- Partner with other HR team members to ensure shared initiatives such as the HBCU Fellowship, Engagement Surveys, and Workforce Reporting & Benchmarking, continue to support league and team objectives.
- Present regularly with teams HR leads and other key stakeholders on the topics of engagement, talent management, workforce benchmarks and critical HR trends. Facilitate monthly Team HR calls focusing on trends, key programs and initiative updates.
- Collaborate with multiple internal stakeholder groups, including the Team Marketing & Business Operations, Data Strategy & Analytics, G League and WNBA teams to ensure best possible service delivery to teams.
- Manage a suite of HR technology partners that help teams attract, select, develop and retain talent in an innovative and cost-effective manner.
- Identify, maintain and report out key performance indicators that assess the efficacy of Team HR Programs and offerings.
Required Education and Professional Experience
- At least 8 years of progressive experience across multiple HR subject areas; experience as an HRBP or HR consultant in the sports and entertainment industry preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or an additional 3 years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience managing and sustaining vibrant professional communities and running conference style meetings and events a plus.
Required Experience/Knowledge
- Consultative orientation and ability to quickly build relationships at all levels of an organization.
- Knowledge of trends and best practices across the Human Resources function.
- Problem solving skills and a demonstrable track record to coordinate multiple projects and priorities in a vibrant environment.
- Experience leading large scale projects and programs from ideation to implementation.
- Ability to influence & persuade through compelling written and verbal communication.
- Familiarity with the latest technology, research, trends, and philosophies in the human capital field.
- Excellent client service skills and the ability to create community through events, communications and other methods.
- Strong business acumen and experience creating human capital strategies to achieve business objectives.
- Conversant and highly adept in analyzing and leveraging metrics and data to establish baselines and support desired people outcomes that drive the business forward.
- Strong project management skills and experience managing multiple deadlines, deliverables and project teams.
Salary Range: $160,000 - $185,000
