Position Summary:

This position is part of the Global Strategy & Innovation (GSI) group, leading efforts to deliver data-driven insights to stakeholders and empower decisions around the NBA's engaged fanbase. The Team Data Solutions Strategist will manage the tactics around an end-to-end data experience for team and league users to leverage across specific business use cases.

 

This role will interface with various experts and partners within the data space, serving as a critical connection and delivering a tailored experience to key stakeholders. In addition, you will support the development of outputs that accompany delivered data, including reporting and analysis.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage partners and stakeholders through key milestones of construction of the data platform for the Leaguewide Data Initiative
  • Serve as the subject matter expert regarding the infrastructure supporting the Leaguewide Data Initiative
  • Leverage that expertise to create and maintain a data product roadmap and execute those outcomes
  • Develop an understanding of current and future needs in data collection for both the league, from teams, and teams from the league, and create solutions to gather the required information
  • Participate in the creation of a data product roadmap and execute on those outcomes through reporting and other outputs
  • Work with Team Marketing & Business Operations (TMBO) executives to further proprietary analytical research for presentation to teams at various league workshops

 

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • 2+ years of experience in stakeholder and/or analytically-driven roles
  • Ability to consult with business analysts and operators to understand their data needs, develop systems to access the data and convert the outputs into various formats for analysis
  • Comfort with ambiguity in data and experience in working with partners to optimize third-party data streams
  • Experience in understanding existing data structures, including collection and standardization processes using a combination of R, Python and SQL
  • Expertise in creating informative data visualizations through Tableau, Power BI or other software
  • Detail-oriented, extremely organized with ability to manage projects from inception through execution
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, particularly for presentations

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in business or quantitative field

 

Salary Range:

  • $80,000 to $100,000 per year
