Job Summary:
As a Project Employee supporting the WNBA Public Relations team, you will play a critical role in executing day-to-day public relations activities and assisting senior team members with various PR tasks. You’ll contribute to the development of key messaging, media outreach, and workback timelines, while also handling administrative and executional tasks that help keep our multi-workstream launches on track. This position is ideal for someone who is eager to learn and grow in the PR and communications field, with a passion for sports and media.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Writing & Editing: Assist in drafting press releases, media alerts, pitches, and other PR materials. Provide copy editing support to ensure consistency, clarity, and accuracy. Write and edit press releases.
  • Timeline & Workback Plans: Support the creation of project timelines and workback plans with department stakeholders for upcoming initiatives, ensuring deadlines are met and all tasks are accounted for.
  • Key Messaging and other press materials: Maintain and write season-long key messaging documents and metrics along with league fact sheets and storylines using data driven insights from the Business Intelligence team
  • Pitching:  Assist with pitching basketball and business media outlets
  • WNBA Comms Twitter Channel: Assist with the launch of the WNBA communications Twitter channel.
  • Leadership Support: Serve as a backup for leadership speaking engagements by preparing speaking points, briefing materials, and ensuring all logistics are in place.


Required Education/Professional Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • More than 3 years of experience in public relations, media, sports, or a related field


Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:

  • Strong writing and editing skills, with an eye for detail and a knack for storytelling.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine interest in sports, media, and communications.

 

Salary Range: $2,692.31 - $2,884.62/Biweekly
