Group Summary:
The Merchandising Partnerships team focuses on the NBA’s global relationships across the consumer products landscape. This includes partnerships in sporting goods, apparel, videogames, collectibles, digital products, hard goods, and other product categories. Key partners include Nike, 2K, Fanatics, New Era, Panini, Wilson, and many others. The Merchandising Partnerships team is also responsible for the league’s commerce efforts (e-commerce and brick & mortar) and our branded attractions business.
Position Summary:
This position will assist in supporting the fulfillment of contractual benefits for key strategic NBA merchandising partner relationships – with a focus on marketing activation.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assist in the fulfillment of partner sponsorship portfolios across NBA, WNBA, NBA G League and/or USA Basketball properties
- Support day-to-day partner activation processes, including creative approvals, event and fan engagement activation planning and execution, media planning, and results tracking.
- Serve as a point of contact on partnership matters ranging from contractual deliverables to event activation
- Track expenses, assist with invoicing matters, and maintain the NBA’s financial reporting system
- Partner with key NBA constituencies across multiple departments including sub-departments within Global Partnerships, Events, Media (Broadcast and Digital), Content, Public Relations, Legal, Social Responsibility, Team Marketing & Business Operations, Basketball Operations, Player Marketing, and NBA Entertainment
- Support and help execute marketing and promotional plans tied to promoting NBA licensed product
- Provide partnership support through the comprehension of contractual elements and understanding of partners' marketing/business goals, objectives, target audience and competitors
- Execute against partnership goals and provide regular reporting
- Assist in tracking partner international plans through coordination with NBA regional offices
- Assist in reviewing and approving licensed product and ensuring designs follow NBA guidelines
- Create materials to recap partner event and media activation
Required Education/Professional Experience:
- Minimum 2 years professional experience in relevant field (marketing, account management, or brand management)
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
- Experience supporting internal and external relationships
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong business writing/written communication skills
- Presentation skills, including the ability to lead discussions both internally and externally
- Relationship management skills both internally and externally, adapting to various personalities and working styles
- Attention to detail and ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects
- Financial and analytical skills; ability to create internal and external reports
- Must be highly motivated, proactive, self-starter with high energy and team spirit
Salary Range: $30-33/ hour
