Position Summary

The Project Employee, Global Fan Insights Analyst - NBA Africa & BAL is a critical member of the Consumer & Fan Insights team within the Data Strategy & Analytics organization, with dedicated focus on supporting NBA Africa and the Basketball Africa League (BAL). This role will be instrumental in harnessing the power of data and insights to inform strategy, deepen fan engagement, and support decision-making across core business areas, including Marketing, Partnerships, and Business Development. Reporting to the Global Fan Insights Lead, the analyst will be responsible translating data from both syndicated and custom research into clear, actionable insights for local regional stakeholders across NBA Africa and the BAL to make data a key component of business decision-making. The goal: to embed data-driven thinking into every aspect of the NBA’s and BAL’s operations across the continent. The ideal candidate will be deeply curious about consumer behavior, adept at turning data from research sources into powerful narratives and experienced in using insights to influence decision-making. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and regional partners to ensure the voice of the fan is central to marketing strategy, business planning, and growth initiatives.

This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed (10) months.

Major Responsibilities
• Support the Global Fan Insights Lead to activate a unified vision for insights work across international markets – tailoring it to the unique opportunities and cultural nuances of African fans.
• Act as the day-to-day insights support working closely with GFI Lead assisting the NBA Africa & BAL by localizing and helping to deliver key consumer insights to help impact business.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate fan insights into strategic planning and campaign execution.
• Leverage existing datasets and research to craft insightful stories to fuel revenue growth within Africa.
• Utilize advanced analytics techniques to extract actionable insights from large-scale datasets, including fan engagement metrics, social media data, and consumer surveys.
• Support the development and implementation of fan research projects, including survey design, data collection, and analysis.
• Be an established expert and go-to-resource for fan insights utilizing custom and syndicated resources to support marketing strategy, new business and partner renewal initiatives in Africa.
• Develop reports, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to stay abreast of best practices and innovative approaches in fan engagement analytics.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of fan demographics, psychographics, and consumption patterns to identify key segments and trends across global markets.
• Responsible for the day-to-day execution of measurement and reporting for the Basketball Africa League (BAL), including tracking fan metrics and brand health.
• Collaborate with the Partnerships team to develop and tailor insights deliverables that support sales narratives and partner engagement efforts.
• Conduct workshops to accelerate growth and produce playbooks to sustain growth.

Required Education/Professional Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in related field required
• A minimum of 3-5 years of market research experience

Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes

• Expert at problem-solving, critical thinking
• Ability to successfully navigate cross-functional teams and prioritize across competing needs
• Strong analytical skills including data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
• Strong MS Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is a must
• Storytelling ability using a range of data sources with the ability to convert complex findings into insightful and concise reporting and presentations
• Exceptional analytical, quantitative, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Strong partnership skills and experience working with various functional teams and markets
• Demonstrated success in evangelizing the purpose of an enterprise global team within a highly matrixed environment
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities with many stakeholders
• Experience supporting an international business or partner (preferably in Africa)

 

Salary Range: $4,038.46 - $4,423.08 biweekly
