Group Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and dynamic member to join the Media Distribution & Partnerships department at the NBA. This team oversees social, digital, gaming, and other content business partnerships across the NBA, WNBA, G-League, USA Basketball and the NBA 2K League.
Job Summary:
This position will play a key role in coordinating partner deliverables and hospitality benefits across the department’s network of business partners for all League events. This position will also assist with partner management related assignments and tasks, such as communicating, tracking, and monitoring content commitments for all New Media partnerships, and providing similar support for other sub-groups within the Media Distribution & Partnerships department.
The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, has strong communication skills, and is incredibly detail oriented. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and, on occasion, work non-traditional hours around tentpole events. An understanding, interest and expertise in the media landscape and a passion for the game of basketball is a plus.
Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects of partner hospitality across the Media & Distribution Partnerships department, from maintaining a ‘master list’ of partner contacts to collecting and organizing partner invitation submissions.
- Act as a liaison between the Media Distribution Partnerships and Partner Services department, managing partner outreach and internal/external questions regarding hospitality.
- Provide partner management support, including event-specific project assignments as well as coordinating needs for fulfillment of contractual commitments and/or on-site partner and/or creator access needs at tentpole events.
- Proactively gather information on key partners to help inform an evergreen hospitality strategy (e.g., favorite teams, sizing information for gifting, etc.).
- Conduct industry research on the current media, content, and gaming landscape to identify best practices as well as new business and/or innovation opportunities.
- Help operationalize partnerships, assisting in onboarding new partners, aggregating and summarizing key partnership information, and preparing internal overviews for senior management.
Required Education/Professional Experience:
- Minimum 2 years working in a partner management and/or business operations role, preferably within the sports, entertainment and/or media industry.
- BA/BS degree preferred or relevant equivalent experience.
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
- Strong organizational skills as well as meticulous attention to detail and precision in work, ensuring that all aspects of a task are completed accurately and thoroughly.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively, multitask effectively, and organize and prioritize projects as directed.
- Proven track record in managing multiple projects, setting priorities, dictating timelines, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work effectively within a group, contributing to the team’s success rather than individual achievements.
- Passion for and interest in media, specifically new and emerging technologies, social media, gaming, etc., to provide insights and recommendations as to new business and innovation opportunities.
- Strong facility and familiarity with MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Adobe Suite, with the skill set to learn new computer programs and platforms as well as train others
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation building and delivery skills (including to senior management or external business partners).
- Ability to build positive relationships with team members, fostering a cooperative, supportive and inclusive work environment.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000
