Position Summary:
This position is part of the Trading Cards, Memorabilia, Auctions and Hardgoods group within the NBA’s Consumer Products department. The role will have significant oversite of our hardgoods business, as well as support of our trading cards, memorabilia and auctions businesses for the NBA, WNBA, and G-League. The day-to-day responsibilities will require excellent interpersonal, business writing and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple complex projects at once, and frequent analysis of industry, sales, and royalty data.
Major Responsibilities:
- Manage and support the NBA’s hardgoods licensed product business, including:
- Oversight and execution of day-to-day licensing operations (product and marketing collateral approvals, deal memo / contract development and tracking, vendor compliance)
- Financial and revenue analysis and projections
- Contract management and input into NBA’s revenue systems
- Partner relationship management
- Development and execution of innovation and growth strategies for all product categories and partners
- New product ideation, development and execution
- Fulfillment of partner marketing benefits as applicable
- Development of industry dashboards and analytics standards for all business units
- Global program collaboration with regional merchandise leads
- Support Trading Cards, Memorabilia, and Auctions business in areas of:
- Product approvals
- Event activation (Rookie Photo Shoot, All-Star, etc.)
- New product ideation
- Marketing executions
- Available for cross-departmental collaborations with our Digital Products team
- Marketing and Event support across Trading Cards, Memorabilia and Auctions business including:
- Working alongside team to build season-long marketing plans in support of NBA trading card releases
- Coordinate all media plans including asset exchange, tracking results, compilation of recaps
- Tracking of creative assets, graphics and corresponding approvals
- Manage hospitality trackers and support pre-event and on-site hospitality needs
- Serve as player marketing and influencer liaison – manage internal communication, track deliverables with talent, and deliver data-driven recaps to partners
- Support all other miscellaneous on-site activation for trading card and auction partners
Required Education/Professional Experience:
- 3-5 years working in licensing and sponsorship businesses
- Experience within Consumer Products as a licensor or licensee of branded IP across sports, music or entertainment with prior history bringing products to market.
- Bachelor’s degree
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
- Must be able to work in the NBA’s NY office 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday) – some travel required for NBA events and partner meetings
- Market experience in hardgoods and memorabilia licensing preferred
- Ability to work in fast paced team environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Computer skills including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Tableau
- Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks to successful completion
- Ability to work under tight timeframes and deliver a high-quality work product
- Sensitivity in dealing with confidential information
Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000
