Group Summary
The HR Business Partner Team, within the People Team at the NBA, is responsible for providing direct HR support across all US business to drive the attraction and retention of the talent needed to fulfill the organizations priorities and objectives. Services provided include consultation and support for business leaders to ensure that business needs are met through the coordination of HR services including Talent Acquisition, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Compensation, Talent Management, Employee Relations, HR Operations, HR Consulting, Communications and employee engagement.
Position Summary
The Human Resources (HR) and Headcount Governance Generalist serves as a key member of our HR Business Partner team working with managers, employees, and HR colleagues to execute people initiatives across the organization. The primary functions of this role are to (1) act as day-to-day support to employees at the direction of the HR Business Partners and (2) manage headcount governance and support to the NBA HR team. This role leverages data analysis and process improvement skills to ensure headcount tracking and reporting. The role partners on all human resources activities including performance management, employee engagement, talent development and year-end processes (promotion roundtables, performance evaluation and compensation).
The work of this role is performed primarily in-person as it relates to engagement with internal and external stakeholders. This role travels between 0-15% of the year, depending upon priorities.
Major Responsibilities
• Provide HR support to assigned business units, such as swift and effective solutions to first level employee questions on all HR topics, triage to functional HR experts as needed.
• Effectively partner with all Human Resources Business Partners and other related functions - Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Compensation, HR Operations, Benefits, and Legal - to advance the company's values and business strategies.
• Act as a trusted advisor to employees in the interpretation of HR policies and procedures and assist in resolution of issues; interpret, coach, and enforce Company policies and procedures for consistency and compliance.
• Responsible for headcount governance processes, ensuring accurate and timely updates across HR systems to maintain data integrity.
• Collaborate closely with HR and Finance partners to establish and enforce policies that support consistent headcount tracking and reporting.
• Perform HRIS maintenance, audits, and updates to accurately track various headcount types and aid partner accountability, ensuring that all necessary fields are accurately populated for effective daily headcount tracking.
• Deliver cadenced headcount reporting in Excel and/or Tableau, including actual vs target analysis, aiding in strategic workforce planning.
• In partnership with HR Operations, process and ensure accuracy of employee data and personnel files.
• Manage mid-year and year-end process execution (reporting, tracking, promotions, etc.)
• Assist with execution of employee mobility needs (i.e. immigration, relocation, sponsorship, etc.) in partnership with legal and benefits teams.
• Ad hoc reporting and operational tracking (training and program attendance, etc.).
• Assist with drafting of Performance Improvement Plans.
• Work with business leaders to create first drafts of Job Descriptions for assigned business units.
• Responsible to support the full life-cycle of employees from onboarding to exit. Including but not limited to managing the employee exit process, analyzing turnover to detect trends and conducting exit interviews to assess and gain feedback.
• Partner on operational and administrative needs for core DEI programming
• Draft meeting agendas and create supporting materials (e.g. PowerPoints) for cross functional meetings
• Manage a diverse set of company-wide HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
Required Education/Professional Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Labor & Industrial Relations, general business, communications or psychology is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of related HR experience.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in HRIS management or workforce planning.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $115,000
