Position Summary:


The NBA is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Head of Marketing - NBA G League. The individual will be responsible for leading all marketing strategy efforts for the NBA G League, inclusive of the Pro Path Program. Duties include crafting a comprehensive marketing strategy for the league that will maximize reach, brand relevance, and commercial growth. This individual will work with Advertising, Content, Merchandise and Events teams on execution initiatives. This position requires a deep knowledge of marketing strategy and a track record of success building audiences/communities and brands. This position also requires a proven track record of building performance marketing and analytics tools within an organization to drive decision-making. We expect the candidate to be an excellent relationship builder who can work with league/team representatives. The candidate should also have connections and familiarity with various third-party marketing agencies and entities.


Major Responsibility:


  • Actively monitor, analyze and report on the health of marketing contribution to pipeline, ROI, and budget impact
  • Oversee development of the G League's marketing strategy, including annual, quarterly as well as event/campaign based workplans, budget process, communications with executives and execution from start to finish
  • Set the G League's fan acquisition and engagement strategy and develop a robust marketable database
  • Cultivate relationships and lead strategic initiatives with data-informed decision making, consultation, effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Partner with Research, Integration, Brand Identity, Advertising, and IT to help gather, analyze, and interpret fan/markets/business data
  • Assess and optimize the G League's brand integrity, and guide executions
  • Evaluate and provide direction on creative production
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the G League's assets, offerings, and services and internal processes
  • Cultivate relationships and meet regularly with internal department representatives and team personnel
  • Communicate Marketing activations to key internal and external constituents
  • Collaborate with Head of Content on related initiatives


Required Skills/Knowledge:


  • 10+ years of experience in marketing strategy
  • Ability to lead meetings with senior leadership
  • A great strategic mind, comfortable in complex and multi-layered environments
  • Experience managing P&L of seven figures minimum
  • Solid understanding of data behavior and branding
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under demanding deadlines and within a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute work plans
  • Exceptional presentation skills
  • Prior experience managing a team of three or more
  • Understanding of traditional and non-traditional media landscape Independent and self-motivated
  • Expertise in market segmentation




  • Bachelor's Degree required
