While Basketball Operations runs the league’s on-court activities, other departments manage relationships with television and digital media partners, develop marketing partnerships with some of the world’s most recognizable companies, oversee the licensing of NBA merchandise, and handle a wide range of responsibilities that drive the NBA’s success.

 

Position Summary:

The Global Data and Insights Strategist will be responsible for delivering actionable insights and interpretations of data to our marketing and partnership teams. Led by the Senior Growth Strategist, this group will help our stakeholders across international markets to use data, technology, and marketing channels to grow their businesses.

 

The ideal candidate is resourceful and takes ownership of complex tasks and projects. We’re looking for someone to support the growth of local fan bases by delivering data- driven insights globally. You will draw on experiences across digital marketing, data analysis, and CRM to solve problems.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Make daily optimization recommendations to Regional marketing teams
  • Proactively identify operational problems and the resources to resolve those problems
  • Advise peers on effective ways of executing concepts with some availability to be hands-on in the operation
  • Implement fan segmentation across channels
  • Inform Region’s existing tactical plans with insights and new opportunities
  • Introduce experimentation and lead generation as priorities across Regions
  • Determine cross-channel measurement strategy
  • Build data and analytics capabilities
  • Track and report campaign performance
  • Own and manage the data-engineering backlog for IT
  • Ensure outputs from the working team are useful, polished and client-ready
  • Build ad-hoc reports, analysis, and segments using SQL, digital analytics tools, and user-friendly interfaces to alleviate pressure on other Marketing team
  • Conduct workshops to accelerate growth and produce playbooks to sustain growth
  • Advocate for executive visibility of the operating team and its progress
  • Standardize or rationalize goals, operations, and vocabulary across Regions and the NY-based team
  • Work cross functionally with TMBO & GSI and the regional marketing teams to ensure regional fan acquisition and engagement efforts align with global strategy and goals
  • Develop baseline goals and forecasts for growth
  • Create reporting and KPI tracking
  • Determine key measures for success
  • Conduct data attribute/known record valuation and QA processes for international data

 

Requiremed Skills/ Knowledge: 

  • Expert at problem-solving, critical thinking
  • Ability to successfully navigate cross-functional teams and prioritize across competing needs
  • Strong analytical skills including data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Intermediate SQL experience
  • Understanding of marketing operations processes, data management, and technology implementation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong partnership skills and experience working with various functional teams and markets
  • Demonstrated success in evangelizing the purpose of an enterprise global team within a highly matrixed environment
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities with many stakeholders
  • Experience supporting an international business or partner

 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required

 

Salary Range:

$65,000 to $80,000 per year
