Position Summary
This position will support of a variety of Fan & Partner Insight functions, including the design, execution and analysis of custom research projects, the analysis and packaging of insights using first-, second- and third-party data sources, the measurement and tracking of the impact of partnerships, tracking brand health, informing and optimizing marketing initiatives and supporting organizational strategy and innovation with actionable insights. This role will work closely with the Fan & Partner Insights Lead to help develop and support NBA's growing global business.

 

Major Responsibilities
•    Help support the Consumer & Fan Insights team initiatives, working closely with the Fan & Partner Insights Lead
•    Provide fan insights utilizing both primary and syndicated resources to support marketing strategy, new business and partner renewal initiatives.
•    Provide support to key stakeholders across internal business units including League Marketing, Global Partnerships, Affiliate Leagues, Global Regional Teams and TMBO/Teams helping to understand needs to deliver desired results
•    Support TMBO to deliver insights to team stakeholders and support regular insights meetings with team strategy & analytics personnel to share insights collected at the league level
•    Support the Post-Attendee Experience research project and help develop new collaborative projects with team stakeholders that help identify areas for innovation and optimization across the league
•    Support the design, execution, analysis, interpretation and reporting of primary market research studies 
•    Support requests from across NBA’s global business, including international NBA fan insights and partnership measurement insights using available data sources
•    Support the design of questionnaires, program/script surveys, analyze and create reports that draw out meaningful insights to help inform strategic decisions 
•    Help manage relationships with research agencies
•    Visualize and story-tell with data to articulate narratives around NBA fans
•    Present insights to stakeholders across business units
•    Distribute regular and ad hoc reports with actionable insights in response to requests for research using robust data sets
•    Provide fan and market insights utilizing both first party data sources and syndicated resources including MRI/Simmons, YouGov, Global Web Index and other third-party data sources available.
•    Support new business development teams, proactively helping to identify potential partnership opportunities and build compelling stories while prospecting for potential partners and target accounts.  
•    Utilize data analytics software platforms to mine and analyze both syndicated and primary data sources 
•    Help Support NBA Fan Insights Communities including member engagement, survey deployment, analysis and packaging of insights
•    Help support develop and maintain insights dashboards using data visualization tools to help concisely summarize, visualize and build compelling storylines with data to articulate narratives around NBA fan profiles, brand health and partner brand/category engagement and partnership impact
•    Help support Partnership Measurement initiative including primary research such as partnership health trackers, amplification studies and media valuations
•    Help monitor fan and consumer trends to identify and develop insights with adaptations for NBA strategy, such as audience monetization, content consumption behavior, partnership effectiveness, etc.
•    Work collaboratively with other areas of the Research & Insights Team to provide more holistic insights around fan profiles and partnership effectiveness

 

Required Education/Professional Experience
•    Bachelor’s degree required
•    3+ years of market research experience with media sales and digital marketing experience a plus
•    Experience conducting primary research projects both using quantitative and qualitative methodologies
•    Experience mining & analyzing syndicated research resources (i.e. GWI, MRI-Simmons, YouGov, ComScore, Nielsen, SimilarWeb, Data.ai, etc.)
•    General experience with crosstab programs and/or software e.g. Q Research, Crunch IO 
•    Experience utilizing & managing Insights Communities
•    Experience programming/scripting surveys using professional research survey software
•    Experience conducting research & analyzing consumer data across multiple first and third party sources to identify trends
 

Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes
•    Understanding of research methodologies and sampling strategies
•    Working knowledge of syndicated consumer insights tools such as YouGov, GWI, MRI-Simmons, etc.
•    Ability to participate in conversation with internal stakeholders to understand project objectives and deliver actionable insights
•    Ability to present project findings insights and recommendations to both internal stakeholders and external partners/clients
•    Ability to collaborate with internal teams to support development of resources to more efficiently disseminate insights to key stakeholders throughout the organization
•    Ability to mine and leverage insights across first-, second- and third-party datasets to develop a holistic analysis
•    Proven analytical, quantitative, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
•    Experience conducting research & analyzing consumer data across multiple sources to identify trends
•    Demonstrated passion for understanding consumer behavior
•    Strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to convert complex findings and large data sets into insightful, concise and easily digestible reports and presentations
•    Strong MS Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
•    Sports landscape knowledge is a plus

 

Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000
