Position Summary:

To assist with and manage league governance and rules compliance matters, including relating to: rules education, monitoring, investigations, and enforcement; Board of Governors and committee meetings; and team financial and revenue sharing matters.


Major Responsibility:

  • Conduct investigations relating to CBA system rules and make recommendations regarding outcomes
  • Advise teams on system rules compliance matters, including in the areas of salary cap circumvention, tampering, and free agency
  • Create educational materials and manage training programs for team personnel on system rules
  • Manage monitoring and audit processes relating to system rules compliance
  • Draft Board of Governors and committee meeting agendas, minutes, and related materials
  • Advise teams and league executives on governance and policy matters relating to the NBA Constitution & By-Laws and other governing documents
  • Manage policy and operational matters relating to the league's Revenue Sharing Plan


Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Excellent record of academic and professional achievement
  • 3-5 years of experience at a law firm
  • Litigation or arbitration experience required; investigations experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical, writing and oral presentation skills
  • Top-quality organizational and project management skills
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance



Law degree and bar admission
