Position Summary:


The NBA is in search of an experienced HR Business Partner who will lead HR service delivery for NBA Latin America and NBA Canada. Based in Mexico City, Mexico and reporting directly to the Head of HR International, this role will have both HR strategy and HR operations responsibilities, including Employee Engagement, crafting, and implementing HR policies, Recruiting, Talent Management, Benefits Administration, Compensation Analysis, HRIS, Immigration & Mobility.


Major Responsibility:


  • Contribute to driving business performance; align HR strategy with strategic objectives
  • Facilitate an encouraging work environment and an engaged workforce consistent with the NBA's mission, core values and culture
  • Partner with business leadership in analyzing, interpreting, and forecasting workforce trends for department(s) and identify and assess key HR metrics
  • Advise and collaborate with departmental leaders on operational decisions; facilitating the development of systems or protocols that promote HR strategy
  • Serve as departmental resource on human resource policies, and processes Interpret and apply HR policies and procedures
  • Deploy departmental protocols and best-practices, ensuring that department rules, policies, practices, and programs meet legal/regulatory standards and are in compliance with NBA standards Is a resource for employees for resolving workplace issues
  • Evaluate and respond to human resource issues and when appropriate Assess and anticipate HR-related needs Operationalize programs and services, (e.g. Performance Management, Recruitment and Retention, Reward and Recognition, Compensation, Learning and Development, Employee Health, Well-being and Safety, Employee and Labor Relations, Leave Management, etc.).
  • May initiate, review and/or approve HR transactions at the department level
  • Key stakeholder in guiding performance and overall talent management with a lens on diversity, inclusion and belonging
  • Engage in sophisticated employee relations issues and address grievances
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve employee engagement and happiness
  • Partner with Managers to identify performance development opportunities for teams and individuals
  • Proactive support of and timely delivery of HR programming Build and maintain positive relationships with internal client groups across Latin America, Canada, and the New York/New Jersey home offices


Required Skills/Knowledge:


  • Expert knowledge of HR functions, talent market, best-practices, and labor legislation across Mexico and Brazil, Canada a plus
  • Client-centric mentality with the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and exercise sound judgement
  • Expert project management skills, a bias for action and problem-solving
  • Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in dynamic, heavily matrixed organization
  • Results-oriented, dedicated and driven to achieve results
  • Business level verbal and written proficiency in English & Spanish languages required, Portuguese a plus
  • Solid knowledge of HR systems and applicant tracking systems (SAP, PeopleSoft, Workday, Taleo, Greenhouse, ICIMS, etc.)
  • Strong business curiosity Basketball or sports knowledge, a plus High level of proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel to other NBA offices (Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, NYC), as needed


Experience Needed:


  • A minimum of 8 years or experience as a HR Business Partner Experience in leading and executing on HR programs and initiatives (Recruiting, ER, HR policy and program implementation, etc.)
  • Experienced in facing off with senior leaders and functioning as a consultant/advisor on HR matters
  • Demonstrable experience gathering and using HR metrics to drive strategic decisions


Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, or related field
