Position Summary:

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is an elite professional sports league and a preeminent global media and entertainment company. Headquartered in New York City, the NBA strives to represent its 30 teams at a level that maximizes the growth, financial success, and popularity of the game of basketball. The NBA has evolved into one of the world's largest and most successful sports, media, and entertainment businesses, based on its fan-first approach and by producing a compelling live viewership experience. The league is focused on increasing its global fan base by growing the game of basketball and creating new opportunities for fans across Africa to engage with the NBA. This multi-faceted role will report directly to the Senior Director, of Global Media Distribution - NBA Africa, and will be a key contributor to maximizing media licensing revenue and distribution, and DTC (direct-to-consumer) subscriptions for NBA Africa. The ideal candidate will have a background in broadcast media rights sales or acquisitions support, broadcast marketing, B2B account and project facilitation and will be a digital native.

 

Major Responsibility:

 

Business Development Support

  • Support the Media Sales team by gathering business intelligence and conducting media rights market analysis, including acquiring and preparing ad-hoc research reports.
  • Create and deliver high-spec sales presentations using industry knowledge, market trends, business intelligence, and data-driven NBA marketing solutions
  • Support the DTC subscription business by facilitating and coordinating research, data analysis and interpretation
  • Manage the compliance process and submissions using internal reporting systems
  • Manage the Deal Management System (DMS) business operations process for new deals, renewals, and deal amendments

 

Partner Management and business operations support

  • Develop, enhance and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external clients
  • Manage on-boarding processes for new partnerships
  • Partner Content and Programming facilitation
  • Partner marketing and promotions management
  • Partner invoicing tracking and facilitation
  • Partner hospitality at NBA events locally and internationally
  • Manage the regional viewership data collection and insights process with the Global Media Insights team
  • Innovate and enhance the development of media rights partnership value around the NBA tentpole's key initiatives (e.g. NBA Saturdays and NBA Sundays)

 

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong consultative analytical skills
  • Thorough understanding of the wider traditional broadcast and digital media rights landscape
  • Fluency in English required
  • Creative ideation and problem-solving skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized
  • Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple ongoing projects
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills utilized to liaise cross-functionally and build relationships
  • Ability to work well within a team environment

 

Experience Needed:

  • Minimum of 5 years of broadcast media marketing or media business operations experience, or media rights account management experience
  • A track record of success managing broadcast media rights accounts OR broadcast brand campaigns

 

Educational Background Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required
