Position Description:

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Build up a keen understanding of the Japanese sports broadcast market
  • Work closely with our broadcast partners in Japan to create an effective programming strategy for NBA content
  • Study & analyze viewership data throughout the season to further optimize our programming strategy in Japan
  • Research the market situation for sports in different countries across Asia Pacific
  • Develop effective data-driven programming strategies for each market in Asia
  • Work closely with broadcast and digital partners to execute the most effective deployment of content for their platforms
  • Work with regional broadcasters and digital partners to distribute non-game content that runs on non-sport channels owned / operated by the partner
  • Maximize the usage and distribution of non-game content to engage casual fans across multiple genres (music, fashion, instruction, travel, etc.)
  • Develop and execute a programming, production acquisitions strategy for NBA Asia's digital youth platforms
  • Work with regional broadcasters to improve coverage, scheduling and production level of NBA games
  • Analyze conversation across social media and identify content strategies to increase traffic and engage our audience (on our NBA-controlled and licensee platforms)
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the Production & Programming Department, as well as NBA Entertainment to acquire & commission content that will be most successful in each market
  • Work with Global Content and Media Distribution and Marketing groups to maximize the impact of content through delivery to various NBA media outlets
  • Work under extremely tight deadlines, as well as handling of multiple projects simultaneously

 

Required Experience & Knowledge: 

  • 5+ years of programming management
  • Strong understanding of Asian media markets especially Japan and/or NBA content production and programming
  • History of developing programming solutions for TV and / or digital
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English (Japanese and/or other Asian languages a plus)
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Highly skilled and creative individual
  • Good organizational skills, strong editorial judgment, flexibility, ability to multitask
  • Interest in NBA, basketball and sports is a plus

 

Educational Background Required: 

  • BA/BS or MA in Communications, TV Production or degree in related field.
