Digital Marketing Lead, NBA Asia

Position Summary:

The Digital Marketing Team Lead for Asia will manage all digital and social media marketing initiatives for the League. This includes developing a strategy across the region on how we grow our fan base, lead content strategy and content generation for marketing, and drive all marketing initiatives in the digital space. The Digital Marketing Team Lead will also be responsible for working with the Customer Data Strategy Lead in implementing a CRM strategy to monetize the expanding fanbase.The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in strategy, planning, communication and execution of all campaigns in the digital space, be familiar with execution and measurement of CRM campaigns, as well as have experience in social and digital analytics.


Major Responsibility:

  • Responsible for the development and execution of the digital and social media marketing programs for the league, including but not limited to: NBA, Jr. NBA, WNBA and NBA G League
  • Manage all aspects of building, managing and optimizing multiple interactive channels including social media, search engine optimization and website strategy for our youth acquisition program
  • Serve as lead for the website and new interactive functionality in line with a youth acquisition strategy
  • Utilize both interactive and traditional marketing channels to achieve website optimization, digital presence goals, and conversion for our youth acquisition strategy
  • Aid in the development of digital marketing media plans and use data to recommend opportunities to reach target audiences through digital channels
  • Build and maintain a close relationship with the media agency of record, media partners, and digital vendors to create campaign strategies, develop and execute paid media buys, and champion post-campaign recaps and success stories
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of internal departments to ensure the flawless transition of campaign materials and messaging into the social and digital space (i.e. Brand Marketing, PR, Media and Digital Distribution, Partnership groups, and more)
  • Provide creative direction and work alongside internal teams and agencies to develop the appropriate assets for all digital platforms including but not limited to: YouTube and other digital video platforms, Social Media sites (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, etc.), high-impact and digital display banner creative, etc.
  • Support local partners in their content strategy for their websites and social networking channels, both on a short-term and long-term basis, around major league events such as Draft, All-Star and Playoffs Monitor the execution of the content strategy across all platforms to ensure that we are operating within the established guidelines and standards
  • Audit editorial quality, effectiveness and results applying qualitative and quantitative techniques
  • Report on monthly digital and social media analytics and make recommendations for improvement in usability, content development and promotion
  • Work with the Customer Data Strategy Lead to implement a CRM strategy and help monetize the expanding database
  • Define KPIs and performance goals to ensure success across every project
  • Stay connected in both proactive and reactive ways to relevant Digital marketing trends that could provide insight, generate reach or inspire creativity to NBA and Jr. NBA campaigns
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, new and existing media to disseminate ideas, and host educational info sessions for internal teams


Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • A strong strategic mindset, understand digital and social media best practices and have the passion to execute flawlessly
  • Consumer-focused mindset, with a demonstrated track record of discovering key insights
  • Strong writing skills, including editorial experience Understanding of the local market basketball audience Knowledge of and passion for basketball
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possess strong team leadership skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with executive management (written and verbal)
  • Solid knowledge of core digital marketing competencies including digital advertising, SEM/SEO, programmatic and social media advertising
  • Have a strong understanding of digital measurement and metrics tools. (ie. Google Analytics, Omniture, comScore, Facebook/Twitter/YouTube Insights)
  • Deep knowledge of current and emerging digital marketing technologies (ie. VR/AR, Voice, etc.)
  • Internet and computer-savvy; familiar with key sites and functionalities
  • Experience with web content/publishing tools including basic HTML coding
  • Experience with social networking sites
  • Project management experience and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Fluency in English and at least one additional language (Bahasa Indonesia, Korean or Japanese language ability is preferred)
  • 12+ years in digital marketing/social media experience
  • Previous media company, social media platforms, sports, or digital agency experience preferred



  • BA/BS or MA in Digital Marketing/Digital Communications or other relevant fields MBA or tertiary degree ideal
