Position Summary/Justification
The Project Employee for Events will support the Events Manager in planning, coordination, and execution of NBA Africa & BAL events, ensuring world-class experiences for fans, partners, and stakeholders. This role focuses on event logistics, partner activations, budget management, and fan engagement, working closely with internal teams and external vendors to bring NBA Africa and BAL’s visions to life. Reporting to the Events Project Management – NBA Africa & BAL, the Project Employee, Events has a key role in ensuring driving flawless execution and strategic alignment of events with NBA Africa’s business objectives
Major Responsibilities
Event Support & Execution: Play a supporting role in planning, execution, and post-event analysis of NBA Africa & BAL events, fan festivals, grassroots initiatives, corporate hospitality events, and partners activations.
Game-Day & Event Production: Provide support to the Events Manager in all aspects of live game presentation, including music, video content, lighting, in-game hosts, fan engagement, and special performances.
Creative & Content Development: Contribute to the creative direction for halftime shows and special event activations.
Technical Coordination: Partner with the Events Manager to provide audio-visual production needs, including LED screen programming, sound design, and special effects for events.
Logistics & Operations Management: Assist Events Management team with venue selection, setup, equipment management, transportation, security, and staffing to ensure seamless event execution
Budget Oversight & Cost Management: Track event budgets, ensuring financial efficiency and aligning spending with event objectives.
Partner & Sponsorship Activation: Work closely with NBA Africa & BAL’s commercial partners to integrate partnership elements into events, ensuring deliverables are met and maximizing brand exposure.
Fan Engagement & Experience Enhancement: Provide support to the events management team in implementing interactive experiences, in-game entertainment, and community-driven activations that enhance fan engagement.
Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a liaison for both internal teams and external partners, including marketing departments, media contacts, government agencies, and corporate sponsors, ensuring smooth communication and coordination.
On-Site Event Execution: Provide on-ground support at events, troubleshooting operational challenges, ensuring smooth execution, and maintaining high production standards.
Compliance & Risk Management: Partner with the Events Manager to ensure health, safety, and legal compliance at events, implementing contingency plans and risk assessments.
Vendor & Supplier Management: Coordinate with the Events Manager in contract negotiations, payments, and service agreements with vendors, production teams, and logistics providers.
Post-Event Reporting & Performance Tracking: Collect event performance metrics, compile reports to support Events Management in analyzing data to optimize future events and measure impact.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with marketing, media, partnerships, and basketball operations teams to integrate events into NBA Africa & BAL’s broader fan engagement and busi0ness strategy.
Innovation & Digital Integration: Indentify and incorporate technology-driven experiences, digital activations, and social media engagement to expand the reach and impact of events
Required Skills/Knowledge
Event Operations & Logistics Expertise: Strong knowledge of event planning, technical production, vendor coordination, and on-site execution
Budget & Financial Management: Ability to develop, track, and optimize event budgets while ensuring financial efficiency
Sponsorship & Partner Activation: Experience integrating commercial partnerships, sponsorship activations, and brand experiences into events
Fan Engagement & Hospitality Management: Understanding of NBA fan culture and ability to create memorable event experiences
Project Management & Multi-Tasking: Strong ability to manage multiple events simultaneously, ensuring high-quality execution
Stakeholder & Vendor Relations: Experience of working with internal teams, corporate partners, government agencies, and third-party vendors
Experience Needed
4–6 years of experience in event management or live entertainment, preferably within sports, media, or entertainment industries.
Proven track record of managing large-scale events, including logistics, budget oversight, and sponsorship activations.
Experience working across African markets is a plus.
Proven success in managing multi-platform content campaigns, leading video production teams, and delivering high-impact digital storytelling
Educational Background Required
Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Sports Marketing, Business, or a related field
Certifications in event planning, project management, or hospitality management are a plus
