Marketing Director, NBA China

Position Summary: This position will lead strategic marketing initiatives focused on identifying, engaging and acquiring NBA fans in Greater China using relevant assets, channels, and content to grow our addressable audience. He/she will be responsible for the development and execution of the NBA China marketing plan and the creation of unique, high impact brand marketing campaigns.Marketing is responsible for the NBA's global marketing operation, directing brand development, strategy, and advertising of league-wide marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives. The department includes Marketing Strategy, Brand Management, Advertising and Media, Research and Analytics, and Player Marketing.|Major Responsibility: Lead cross-functional marketing projects focused on high-priority areas and long-term opportunities and exhibit best-practice project management skills Develop innovative brand marketing campaigns to ensure local relevance and strong activation during key season tentpoles (China Games, Season Tip-Off, All-Star Weekend, Playoffs and Finals) Further the continued expansion of the NBA Chinese New Year Celebration across all platforms (e.g., television, social media, digital, etc.), partners, and participating teams to boost fan acquisition and monetization of core fans Identify new marketing channels and fan acquisition opportunities, balancing strategic marketing and partner goals Provide thought leadership and analytical rigor on a range of marketing initiatives Develop and implement marketing strategies to raise the visibility of the NBA, connect with our key demographics, and drive growth in the NBA China business Benchmark and track market research trends and metrics; adjust marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions Evaluate and drive measurement of marketing and media effectiveness, performance and opportunities. |Required Skills/Knowledge: Proven track record in developing successful campaigns, garnering consensus from various teams and obtaining stakeholder buy-in on new, complex or substantial ideas Experience collaborating with creative agencies and managing projects Strong working knowledge of the NBA (its players, teams and history), basketball and sport in general Subject matter expert and ability to strongly influence culture and action within a matrixed environment Strategic thinker - able to shape, develop and execute the marketing strategy with an international mindset Proactive, self-starter who can work independently within set objectives and as part a team Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills Highest ethics and integrity Exceptional judgment and decision making Knowledge and understanding of sports, entertainment, media and technology landscape Outstanding quantitative and problem-solving skills Strong leadership and project management skills Ability to communicate with senior level executives both inside and outside the organization Fluency in English and Mandarin 9+ years' experience in marketing and strategy or applicable field, including relevant experience working in mainland China Experience in international markets Successful track record in attaining and exceeding expectations Management experience required |Education: Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (preferably in Marketing) from a top school required MBA preferred but not required
